They are not mine but I saw them and they looked interesting. WOW. That is great information. I can't believe it actually shrinks enough to be pulled out of the mother. I will check to see if our library already has them (doubt it though); if not I will search around and start to collect them. Thanks for the info.

Right now we are going to keep it all. But if we get duplicates down the road we could probably sell or trade

Vintage Radio & Communications Museum Dictaphone & E

This seems like the best place to post this. I am working on an Ediphone and a Dictaphone at the Vintage Radio and Communications Museum right now(of which I am a volunteer). Mainly the dictaphone though. I was able to record myself talking using old Ediphone blanks on the dictaphone but the blanks ...

I think the tube on the platter of the 8D is the vacuum tube.

Ok so this is what I am working on

This link has some pics of the Presto 8D cutter. This cutter is missing the motor. Besides that I think it would run ok. I am also missing the belt. If I got a motor I would definitly be using that lathe instead of the Rek-o-kut V. Sorry about the picture quality. http://heidelberg.en.craigslist.org...

I am using a Rek-o-kut V. The sound quality is like playing an old scrathed up 78 with a paper cone. It is very understandable but not very good quality (also on the quiet side). I found that the layers of paint makes a difference. The thin layer discs seemed louder but noisey because it was cutting...

We also sell tubes out of the museum although if your looking for 6L6s or 12AX7s we are probably out. They usually sell quick.

Vintage Radio and Communications Museum of CT

These are swap meets and events at the museum. The swap meets are not to big but people do sell tubes and old radios. I think it is $10 to set up a table and sell stuff.

I did it the exact same way! Except I tried to cut a blank chocolate disc because I do not have a mother to mold it from. My record would't track--I think the guy in the video used a harder chocolate. It is very easy to use the same method to make a chocolate mother but you can't really go any where...

Walkmans also make cool distortion for guitars. Just take the wires going to the head and put on a 1/4 jack. Use the head phone jack as an out put.

Ok. I have been trying to get better pics of some of the grooves I cut. I have to go through craigslist because I cannot post pics on this site.
