I have experimented with tons of different cutting materials because I am to cheap to buy real new blanks right now. I have tried chocolate, wax, cds, pressed vinyl (16" near label; individual cuts so no end groove), a spray painted record, pvc tub surround for bathrooms, and that colored plastic us...

I have fooled around with one that cuts 7" discs although I also have the cylinder version. The 7" cutter is nice because it is some what unitized. The main problem with the one I am working on is the motor doesn't run.

Rekokut motor

I had the same problem with the rekokut I am working on. The motor was stuck. Also that friction wheel on the motor shaft which is made out of pc board like material was slipping. Have you had any trouble with the drive pin getting pushed down at 78 rpm because the spring wasn't strong enough?

Need record cutting tips.

I am a volunteer from the Vintage Radio and Communications Museum of Connecticut, USA. I am trying to get at least one cutter going right now. We have a presto 8D that is missing the motor and the cutter head doesn't seem to work, a Rekokut 7 something? which works fairly well (although I am using o...

Cutting old discs

I found that soaking the discs in an approx. 25% ammonia solution for a day or so helps soften them up also.
