Gentlemen, I'm sorry to say that we did this in my plant with a steam pressure of 160psi (or was it 150psi??). At RCA Sydney one of the two 7" press operators would churn out four 7" discs per minute while reading the newspaper which he would fold in half and place in front of him on the press!!!!!...

We are only getting about 120 PSI of steam and cold water, which allows us a 30 second cycle for 7" and 45 second cycle for 12". We can alter the speed a bit but this is where we found the best consistency. Honestly, between trimming the record, checking the grooves on both sides, applying labels, a...

So we adopted the attitude that test pressings of ALL releases pressed in our plants be "skip tested" on a typical junky consumer record player that used a ceramic cartridge tracking at about 5 grams. Ha, we actually take the time to do this on EVERY cut we make. Call us old fashioned or perfection...

We here are by no means experts but since we master, electroform, and press all in the same shop I think we have found some pretty interesting things. I feel that you should be able to get perfect sound quality across the frequency curve with any groove as deep as 3 thousandths. Anything deeper does...

Hey Palomino.. yes that was directed towards you! I was hoping you would list your contact details and your URL if you have one. It seems that you are one of only two plants in the USA with cutting, plating and pessing all under one roof!! This has got to be a major selling pont. Let's hope so! I a...

Hi Palomino, Contributions to the list are welcome. Please list your details here and I will make a final list as Daimon suggested and edit it into the starting topic of this thread so that a complete list is readily available once this thread has run its course. Not sure if your paragraph is direc...

Re: Confirmed pressing plants

I think somebody has compiled a very good list of currently operating pressing plants:-) http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/byform/mailing-lists/arsclist/2009/04/msg00103.html Aww, we didn't make the list. However, you can mark it down that we are confirmed to have been, are, and will continue to...

Also to note, we lowered our electroforming temperature from 120 F to 110 F which seemed to help. And we dummy whenever possible.

Thanks all! I guess we will have to make a phone call to our sulfamate supplier ATOTECH! All seems to be good now. As for the pores, they have disappeared since we lowered the pH with sulfamic acid. Our pH is steady around 4.5 (we test with 3-5 pH paper strips) and we would like to lower it more but...

Wow mossboss, thank you for all the info. In the past we have had occasional pitting on the backside that was fixed with sanding but recently the pits have cause holes all they way through the stampers. We changed the carbon filters and adjusted the pH somewhat with sulfamic acid (and by the way in ...

Awesome Aussie, I never thought about pressing 12 and then trimming...experiment time! Yes, we have begun pressing some runs of 12", quite effectively actually. The only problem we have now is occasional pitting on the masters in the plating process. Soon to be resolved hopefully. Thank you for the ...

WTB: 10" pressing die

Looking for a mould, or mold, or die, whichever it's called so that we can experiment pressing 10". We already have a 7" die and two 12" ones but we can't seem to find a 10". Anyone have one or any leads on one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Tom

Yes, we have begun pressing 12" runs...some with more promise than others. We have stayed as busy as the Square Dance industry has allowed but now we are looking into expanding our horizon. I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by a mould lapping machine.? We are located in Kentucky.
