Re: RekOKut Imperial II restoration project

Wow, what a difference a decent amplifier makes! Now getting somewhere with a decent sounding louder cut -some issues with static but I'm still having to counterbalance manually with quite a lot of weight. Does the setup look right?

Re: RekOKut Imperial II restoration project

OK so it's 210 LPI which accounts for the closeness I guess.

( ignore the brackets this is how I have been adding more weight).

Re: RekOKut Imperial II restoration project

Many thanks for this, yes, I'd read your other thread already - super interesting. The 1C I'd been running with a stepup transformer as it's a 500ohm but up until this point It's been a using boat anchor of a power amp so that doesn't help. Some new valves for the R8 arrived today (they were also sm...

Re: RekOKut Imperial II restoration project

Thanks so much for this Soulbear! I did do a search but overwhelmed with posts with those terms - much search harder. Yep, I do have a microscope but no reticule or stand with it (it's supposed to mount to my other overhead but that's a way off) and I find it tough to look through the eyepiece so li...

Re: RekOKut Imperial II restoration project

Mrd, thanks. The Presto 1C is heavier than the Audax, but not that much as to radically change how the machine should work. The type of stylus and blank may make more of a difference, as will the condition/adjustment/lubrication of the pivot points of the suspension. What blanks/stylus are you usin...

Re: Trying to create a book in the format as the old talk-to-me format

Cool project. Comment on this vid, suggests that it's an inside out groove to add some further slight complication: qj3zaLomyxA There are lots of people who can cut small records - there was a guy on here recently cutting 1 inch records, might be worth sounding them out about what you want to do. Re: Require Power Lead for Atom/Vanrock

No worries. When I was on the original search I considered swapping out the connector for an IEC C8 (figure 8 socket) or similar... I didn't get as far as looking at how straight-forward this is by measuring opening and screw mounting points etc. Good luck!

Re: Require Power Lead for Atom/Vanrock

As above, they seem hard to find.Assuming you have the two pin square thing. I looked back to the ebay link I had and it's dead. I ended up using a CB radio one... I *think* it's this one - https://www.nevadaradio.co.uk/product/nevada-pow-b193a/ not used this company so can't vouch for them. You'll ...

Re: Require Power Lead for Atom/Vanrock

I think there are two different types. If it's the same as mine, I believe its an IEC C11 or it looks a lot like one but with round pins. They don't make them anymore it's a polarised rectangular connection (has a cutout in it). Quite hard to track down a suitable replacement. I found mine listed as...

Re: RekOKut Imperial II restoration project

This is amazing and really helpful.

Can I ask if the Audax head is weirdly light? I'm finding I'm having to add a load of weight to the counterbalance for a 1C am I missing something or doing something stupid?

Removing capstan rekokut Imperial II

Hi, after some classic courier handling my Rek-o-kut imperial II arrived with a few issues. The motor had dropped on its mounts and the capstan sheered off so now looks like this - https://i.ibb.co/x7m6SWB/IMG-4281.jpg https://i.ibb.co/zsLfwgj/IMG-4280.jpg Tried to glue the pieces back together and ...

Neumann R12a cutterhead

Just picked up one of these - So far I know it's from 1932 it's described as part of a sound film recording machine here: https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/neumann_r21r_2.html and it has studio 2 written on the box. Has anyone got any other info on this? I note that there's a telefunken branded R12a as ...

Re: Any Atom A101 owners? Need a belt

Yep, it's a weird belt alright. I couldn't find a replacement - the trick in the end for me was to use a rubber o ring from some plumbing connection (I'll check the diameter but likely to be either 32 or 40mm approz) https://www.instagram.com/p/BjHeK56BRoR/
