Re: Lazarus Lathe Project
Hey SB, How are the project/s? Any updates to the SP10/Caruso build? I have to say I'm not so keen on the look of the Poltz Freres but wouldn't say no to a Sugden Connoisseur. Of course I have no idea how either perform mechanically or sonically which would be a deal breaker. I have passed up a ROK ...

Re: Lazarus Lathe Project
Thanks Soulbear, I'm enjoying the build, if the lathe works out well then I'll see if Flo has a Caruso but its a big project to get such a small and simple device made (with aluminium) to a decent standard - Without a physical reference. Overall, making it myself will still be less than a T560, whet...

Re: Lazarus Lathe Project
Just come across this.. Wow I really want a DR33C, I missed out on one a while back. I am having to build something similar from scratch instead.
I didn't know you were UK based Soulbear - I'm in Leicestershire.
Nice idea with the cover.

Re: Sillitoe Lathes
Wow is all I can say, I haven't logged in for a while as I have ran out of money for my project but just come accross this and it's next level. Superb achievement. I too have wanted a Caruso for a long while and I have not yet completed any of my bodge cutter head's but once I have a working lathe w...

Brian you are a legend! Well done and thanks for the vids, I love the input from you, Mark and Flo.
I need to get back on my head but time and money (more time) are limited.

Oh yeah... Deluxe is nice. Not a big difference in usability which is good but modern "cool". Nice logo too.
I found the others a bit too much of a change.

Re: reko kut ebay $2900 starting bid
I wouldn't mind that Rek O Kut but not at that price.... The last lathe I put an offer in for went for way more than it was worth and it was battered.
Wish there were as many people over here in the UK selling semi pro lathes.

Re: Welcome, Newbies! Say Hi in this thread!
Hi tubeactive, Nice... I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to tube gear but love the look of it. I think the reliability has always put me off a bit. Saying that I've been tempted on buying one of those pre built tube pre amps on ebay. They look nice and very cheap, but then I'm guessing maybe the soun...

Re: Welcome, Newbies! Say Hi in this thread!
Hi Joss, Well, mods are the best when they're reversible. I wouldn't hack it if it meant damaging it but changing heads and adding a few bits shouldn't be a problem (without drilling). The head should be removable anyway and a boss or mount could be made (if needs be) for a different head - Not a pe...

Re: Welcome, Newbies! Say Hi in this thread!
Wow, that looks interesting... Very nice. Big cutterhead. I'm sure you could make an attachment to fit a stereo head on there somehow. Have you parted with the money? Should ask him if anyone else is interested... Might be able to knock him down a bit. Did/does it come with electronics? That would b...

Re: Hello From London budding producer need help with record
Its definitely a reviving trend... Artists wanting to send their demos on vinyl to A&R men, labels and DJ's rather than CD. Only last week a guy contacted me to broker a run of 250 12"'s.

Re: Welcome, Newbies! Say Hi in this thread!
Hi, I'm not such a newbie as I've been following you all quietly for some time but this is my first post so... Hi! I produce music mainly but love building things and passionate about vinyl so its been an idea of mine for some 8 years to buy a lathe. Back in 2005 I was going to buy a Vinyl Recorder ...
