Re: DIY Feedback

English is not my home language, maybe it sounds too rude like this...sorry!I mean, the rest of the machine needs complete rebuilding,Noise, tracking issues, rumble, low torque, not brigth treble...But If this is the way to le...

Re: Supersom Mono Cutterhead
Great! Congrats! Please post pics. As my TT motor is in excelent condition, i decided to use a new AC motor with that gearbox wich was originally made for industrial sewing machines and has a mechanical speed regulator. It is also very silent. I picked it because it has the same specs as the fairchi...

Re: Piezo Feedback
Could possibly a phono cartridge be used for that?opcode66 wrote:Yes, and the amount is controlled by a potentiometer. Therefore you can tune in a certain amount of feedback via calibration. On a Neumann rack we do -9db of feedback.

Re: Piezo Feedback
Without a second set of coils in your cutterhead you can't use feedback. One set of coils are the drive coils. Any cutterhead including homebrews have one or two drive coils (mono or stereo head). With an additional coil per channel you can then get feedback. Literally, the drive coil gets voltage ...

Simple question about a stereo cutterhead
Hi, While im in the process of restoring my fairchild, i'm daydreaming about a homebrew stereo cutterhead. Just came across these in a local shop e bought them cheap. Are they suitable? I'm not planning to cut masters, only PC dubplates... http://i426.photobucket.com/albums/pp344/freakmedula/image_z...

Re: Piezo Feedback
I've asked about this as regards a Fairchild 541A head. (Between the damping material and the armature.) The consensus seems to be that something with such low current would need its leads to be very well shielded to avoid inductance from the drive coil. It would need to be a very small piezo eleme...

Piezo Feedback
Since no question can be stupid enough...
I'm trying to understand the feedback in a head.
Would,a piezo disc work instead of the secondary winding?
Makes sense?

Re: Supersom Mono Cutterhead
didn't buy a motor yet. But that should be no problem. Good news is that head seems to be working. I cleaned it inside and plugged it to a 5w tube amp. It is vibrating and i can hear sound... Fairchild 870
This came with my lathe. Found very little info on it on the web. Got the schematics though.
It is a 70w transistored amplifier. Is it worth for the cutterhead?

Re: Supersom Mono Cutterhead
I've opened it up to clean and surprise, that thing is brand new inside. The gears look like they have never been used and even the oil is new. After a little cleaning and lubing outside, everything moves like it should and the gears are engaging fine. I think this thing is 2 speed, probably 33 and ...

Re: Supersom Mono Cutterhead
Thanks Chris! Is there any specification on what kind of DC motor i should get? I don't think i will ever get my hands on the other half of this thing. It was stored in a warehouse, and looked around for hours but didn't find anything. My friend who is the previous owner, told me it has been there f...

Re: What head is this?
Hi, thanks!
The brand is "supersom", and old local electronics dealer.
Actually i want to get some details about it.
I believe this is a mono head, right?
Why there's two connectors? Any leads?
