Re: Grampian head with a Rek-o-kut amplifier - will this wor
Thanks very much Mark. What confounds me with the old amplifiers is the output rating. The Presto 90a is 10watts but is supposed to pair with a 1c or 1d head. How is this possible, or were people cutting at really low levels back then?

Grampian head with a Rek-o-kut amplifier - will this work?
Hey fellow trolls -
Will a rek-o-kut R-8a aka the Challenger amplifier section satisfactorily amplify a Grampian 16 ohm head? The Rek-o-kut apparently outputs 13.5 watts, and has a tap for 16 ohms.
Thanks!

Just a quick one - does the Rek-O-Kut R-8A have a reverse RIAA curve onboard?
Thanks!

Re: Modern amp advice for Grampian D 8ohm head / Rondex lath
Thanks for the information Sillitoe. Does anyone else have any recommendations on an amplifier I can buy off the shelf that will work nicely with the Grampian head? I'm keen to start experimenting with this thing!

Modern amp advice for Grampian D 8ohm head / Rondex lathe
Hi trolls, In between a couple of lathe projects I picked up an old Australian produced Rondex (see the attached pic). I've got the motor running, and the rubbers away for rebuilding, but the amplifier's been parted out a long time ago. My electronics skills aren't so great beyond fault finding and ...

Re: Presto 6N guidance suggestions? (piecing together)
I'm fabricating the motor mount itself - if you could measure the distance between the centre of the shift-lever shoulder screw and the centre of the motor shaft for me, and also between each motor mount mounting screw to the centre of the motor shaft )in case it's not dead centre) that'd be awesome...

Re: Presto 6N guidance suggestions? (piecing together)
Hi Mike - thanks for responding. If the internal dimensions of the 8N are the same as the 6N (can't find an details/differences about the 8N at all) that'd be brilliant. Here's an internal pic of the 6N and the two points I need a measurement between (also, if the motor IS NOT centered between the m...

Re: Presto 6N guidance suggestions? (piecing together)
Hey gang - I'm trying to align a new Bodine motor and home-made motor mount into my 6N but can't get the right pressure onto the idler wheels. Can someone please measure the distance between the centre of the shift-lever shoulder screw and the centre of the motor shaft for me?
many thanks!

I've had stuff go through GZ in under 6 weeks, but with record store day coming up I've heard the backlog is getting pretty large. Could be worth a shot 'though

Re: Advice information for presto 1c cutter head
I'm slowly piecing together a Presto 6N with a 1C cutterhead - there's no stamp for the ohmage on the back of the head but it's testing as 86.5 ohms on the multimeter. Anyone know what that would mean it is?
thanks!
thanks!
