Re: "echo" of near groove problem
Thanks. Well I know that cutting at higher lpi will give me no echo.. but I found it strange tthat grooves are not overlapping and still echoing (and the echo is for the groove above not delayed-played one). I've tried on high end turntable with grado stuff and it's gone. I also mounted a new stylus...

Re: vinyl recorder with precision motor
imho, setting "pararell to earth" isn't a good thing. Unless you did the same with your working table, VR table, VR turntable, and VR haevy platter. Then it's OK. If you don't do it, keep it pararell to the platter.

"echo" of near groove problem
Got a problem that sometimes I hear "low volume" echo of near groove which is later (not before) so this is not related to recording probably, but noticeable on my three record players when played. When music plays it's barely hearable but when you have fast trasients like speaking vocal or snare dr...

Re: My POC Liquid Filled Lathe-Cut Record
You are a bit wrong. In most non-US or non-EN countries, "vinyl"="record" no matter what material is used when making them. So please also respect other countries' terminology. Just my 2c.

Looks awesome! Did you joined two felxidisc together with liquid between? Did you recorded before it or after?

Re: Best Settings for Bayer Makrolon Discs
Hi, the figure A is right; you must see the reflection of your cutting stylus on surface disk; your stylus must be vertical than disk, near 90 degrees. My figure is towrds "B" than "A" or something maybe ideal in between. Of course when cutterhead is flat 180* to the disc. The slot for stylus in VR...

Re: about lifetime of stylus (with vinyl recorder T560)
@marcy108: going back to your YouTube videos - I think you measure counterweight wrong. I always did it with the stylus in the standby position (up, not down on the disc) and then check with Souri's tool. But I may be wrong too. Can anyone confirm?

Audio postcards on automatic turntables
Quick question - Ive got some DD fully and semi auto turntables from 70s and 80s - mostly Technics (Q...) - i cannot play my sound postcard on them - the arm cant be placed on them "that near the center" - it just coming back to arm holder. Is there any way to play them on automatic ones?

Re: about lifetime of stylus (with vinyl recorder T560)
How do you guys check that weight 10g? 16g? its rather impossible with Souri's tool. I mean maybe if you are VERY delicate you can judge +/- 5g, but in reality the "Error rate" is bigger. I've tried to do it with small scale unit but placing carefuly stylus on it I destroyed the tip... So.. how>?

19" Channel Switcher (T560)
I haven't used it a long time.
19" Channel Switcher from Souri's T560 - asking 50 eur + shipping.
It's like new.

Re: about lifetime of stylus (with vinyl recorder T560)
Temepratures of Souri's discs should be kept the same (in my case is like 38-45 degree) since is the same material used. Black blanks has transparent layer on them. Myshank stylues in my case always did better job in terms of longevity, less noise etc. They just have poor very small and fragile heat...

Re: cutting angle and background noise
The system is T560 w/external motor (running in paraarell with tehcnics motor) So I did the tests: - without cutterhead connected (and in general - everything off) - the same HUM - without internal, technics motor (technics off the socket) - the same hum - without external motor (just the technics m...

Re: cutting angle and background noise
This is the hum (the hiss is from my new prototype pvc material, so I'm not talking about it), and yes you were right - it's not 50hz only, it has upper harmonics like shown on the pic.. (50,100,…)so, it might me the vacuum?

cutting angle and background noise
Any thoughts when cutting PC/plastic? I keep my stylus angle around 30*. Too much? Also, I have low-volume hum on my all records (like "G" note 50 or 60hz i think) - tried without the sucking machine, tried without the singnal/power amp off, it's always there. What causes it?

Re: background noise problem by vacuum with vinyl recorder t
I used to get some 'sucking' sound in my recordings (like white noise) from the air moving across the cutting area, and learned to start off a recording with the highest vacuum I could create, and then cut it back to just what was necessarily for reliable removal of the chip. That ended the high fr...

Re: cutting noise music
I cut some noise music in the past with no problems. Also some shelving EQs of course. I think that sine wave can do more damage to the cutterhead than white/pink noises.

Re: stylus heating
Yes.. You are totally right on this. But, cutting with lower temperatures applied to the stylus like 0,3-0,4A is OKEY? I mean, with being very careful? I found these values (up to 0,4A) not giving me a better cut, mean, less noise. On almost all disc I've tried, the way higher settings gave me ultra...
