Hi flo, can you please tell me more about the problems with the Ortofon Concorde? I've seen several of your posts about this subject. As a long-time Ortofon user, I'm worried....... I mean I don't have any crazy rare records, but still, the possibility of damaging my records is discomforting. What c...

Hi folk, just wanted to comment on the heating. I've cut lacquer with steel stylus heating the lacquer instead of the stylus, getting good results (as mossy confirmed :) ). What material are you cutting? You didn't specify, at least in this thread. Wish you all the best with your cutting experiments...

Last saturday I visited Flo. He had replaced the broken armature of a 522. We measured the response of the head from the feedback coil, and made some nice test cuts with it, through Flos Caruso preamp prototype using feedback :D . Flo mentioned this in his Caruso PCB thread: https://lathetrolls.com/...

The turntable museum in St Georgen (hometown of Perpetuum Ebner & DUAL!) has been relocated to a bigger building, and there are a lot more exhibits than before. Check it out if you're passing through! :D http://www.deutsches-phono-museum.de/servlet/PB/menu/1305392/index.html [img]http://www.deutsche...

great news Andy, congratulations! :D

by the way, I visited the "Alpha" place in Lindau one week ago for some record shopping - Philipp was kind enough to endure 3 guys digging records for 5 hours straight

Would love to see the "Gamma" place too 8)

What is a steel MSS stylus? MSS was a british disk cutting lathe and lacquer manufacturer. There is a thread somewhere with pictures of a MSS lathe. Seems like they had a complete product line with everything needed for record cutting. https://lathetrolls.com/viewtopic.php?t=2238&mforum=lathetrolls...

forgot to mention that the AM31 has a stopper screw. There is a small lever, that automatically disengages the lead screw when it hits the stopper. So you basically wait until the program material is finished, then crank until the stopper does it's business, wait for one revolution, and lift the hea...

Re: leadout and locked groove question

Hey I mean on manual lathes like presto 6n or VR... lead-out is done by spinning pitch wheel by hand. then stopping it and with other hand lifting the head when it makes locked groove? is it right? would appreciate for any information about this... yep, on the AM31 I've worked on it works exactly l...

This oil density is more of a legend than fact any thin oil without air being trapped in there should work well and by the way where the hell did they get silicon oil back 40 years ago?
