Re: VR IRIAA EQ Tweaking.....
Can you give more detail about the process you are using? How do you know you are recording 'flat'? How are you analysing the response of the head? FFT or RTA? This process has been described several times on here, in great detail. It may be that all the answers are already here...

Re: Stereo EQ for VR
There's a popular DIY clone of a Neumann W492 EQ that is quick, cheap and easy to build. It is quite versatile as-is, but it is also very easy to mod. I built an M/S version for my VR and I'm very happy with it.

Re: Disappearing Groove around edge of blank anomoly! Why?
It's either runout on the platter or slight warping of the blank. Also, check your dashpot isn't 'bottoming out' or if the piston is rubbing on the cylinder, creating unwanted additional friction.

Bodine motor pulley removal..?
What's the best way to go about removing the pulley from a Bodine motor on an 8N? Is it necessary to remove the motor from the mounting/suspension bar? It seems to be threadded down the centre, so I'm assuming it is screwed on somehow. Can't seem to get any purchase on it at all...
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Calibrating VR t560 with daw
If I understand correctly here, with a test tone at -18db out of the compuer interface into the main unit I should read .77 V at the output of the main unit? How are you calculating this? Have you actually measured that voltage on the interface output? A lot of audio interfaces have an output sensi...

The optimiser is an entirely passive unit for controlling stereo balance etc. It is nothing fancy. All functions can be carried out in your DAW with ease.

The syringe is damper oil. He used to supply a spray can of Ballistol universal mineral oil for lubrication. This doesn't sound like a lubrication issue though...

Re: Cutting timecode vinyl using T560?
Not sure that a mathematique signal is the proprietary of anyone... it is free of use... Also I can manage to buy the right for silence or 1k tones ... could be so funny. You can cut your timecode in the way you want. No rights on that. Haha. Good one. This is not neopilot tone we are talking about...

Re: VR Cutter Head Repair/Replacement
Hi, there is a very long thread about this. It may be the only help you can get. The head is an unusual design and I dont know of anybody who is 'officially' repairing them. I'm sure folks on here will help you if they can. Good luck.

A bit late now and slightly off-topic maybe, but regarding piano wire - if there's a music school near you, make friends with the piano tuner. They will be able to get their hands on a ton of the stuff and are usually happy to off-load it for free. Used piano wire is a lot stiffer than new. I play s...
