Re: Variable Groove Controller Plugin

looks great - i have a motor and i can attach it to the gear box of my Presto. the gear box was originally intended to be driven by a belt attached to the main drive shaft for the Platter. Can this software can be calibrated to work with gear system?

Re: Laser cutting masters

this sounds really cool - do the wavelengths your working with match the same sort of scale that a cutting stylus moves within? apparently cutting a silent groove means moving the stylus less than 5 nanomillemeters. could these laser cut grooves achieve that level of detail? would love to see some o...

Re: cdr embossing

these sound great! are they Embossed? do you mind sharing the setup?

they sound better than my embossed cuts, but I'm using digital iRIAA, my bearings broken and I've got no suspension :)

Re: Voice Coil assistance needed

I had my Presto 5C (which looked pretty similar on the inside to your head) re-coiled by Tod at Deepgrooves mastering, and I think he did a pretty decent job, although I've only ever used it for Embossing not proper Cutting so I never heard it's full potential yet... Jesus from Agnew Analog/Mageneti...

Re: Anyone tried a NSK DD servo motor for a platter driver?

great to see some experiments going on in the field of Drive Motors. I am keen to replace my Presto's gear box and the motor I have running ( a pump motor I think it is...) but I don't know anything about it really.

Re: Has anyone got any advice on Bearings?

Thanks for taking a look Soulbear - I thought the same when I first looke at it, but when I cleaned the Ball Bearings and what looked like the Race, it turned out it was nothing more than a pile of old grease that had formed into the shape of a race.... underneith it was nothing but the flat base yo...

Re: Has anyone got any advice on Bearings?

I think there could have been a ball cage, but possibly not, it seems some bearings can work without them, BUT there's no proper race or groove for the ball bearings to move in, and the one you can see there looks like its just worn into the bottom of that housing. I think there's a whole section mi...

S-Word Tour, Chile

Agnew Analog would also be my recommendation - I saw how they were making their Neumann adapters and I wouldn't be suprised if they can manufacture a custom part for you. I think they have the tools and the know-how.

Re: Has anyone got any advice on Bearings?

Oh and about the skateboard bearings and bike bearings... yes they look similar to things ive encountered trying to research this online... but those bearings take loads at 90degrees to this... i need a thrust bearing i think, designed to take weight from above. Funny its you replying - was just lis...

Re: Has anyone got any advice on Bearings?

Thanks for the reply :) I am thinking about replacement, could be the way to go, especially if these ball bearings are all worn... I really wonder how it’s supposed to work with those two big screw holes in the path of the ball bearings.... but also, what WOULD those holes be for? Some sort of mount...
