i Wonder how the production of this is going
with all the covid19 Quarantine happening?
They seem to not post that much info about
updates or progression of the machine.

Re: lead in groove
i do lead in grooves on embossed records. Its really easy to do on a Presto 6N. when you start cutting you slowly turn the crank thats connected to the feedscrew which causes the spacing to widen. I am sure you can do it with your machine as well if you figured out how to install a crank on your lat...

Re: Voice Coil assistance needed
If you rewound it to the correct impedance and sound is coming through. i would first check to see if anything is obstructing the armature of the cutting head. if not i would send it in for repair. If your stateside Gibb from west tech services is also great as well. His prices are good and doesn't ...

As the owner of this cutting head i can say the Jesus work is Ace.
Really good quality work with solid materials used.
i really highly recommend Agnew Analog for repairs and custom modifications to any record cutting lathe.

Re: I am looking for a diamond cutting stylus holder for Ort
you should contact Agnew Analog.
they can fabricate a stylus holder for your cutting head to fit 320 stylus.
That way your not limited to the specific Ortofon shank.

Re: Has anyone got any advice on Bearings?
i dont own a Presto 14b. But from the pictures you posted the loose balls in the Bearing kinda remind me of the loose balls in threaded headsets for Bicycles. With the threaded headsets on bikes if you over tighten them it will cause it to not move as smoothly and cause indentation in the cups causi...

Re: Economical emboss-able clear flexi-blanks idea
i actually used some Kapco book protector on a zine i did a few years ago. Being that i work in area full of books. i grabbed some and did some cuts with a diamond on them. For embossing i got some decent results but you cant really get too deep or else it will start digging in the kapco. i included...

Re: Bodine motor rumble: capacitor? [and more Presto 6N...]
I have a rumble on my Presto 6N as well. it does not come out in the recordings but it is kinda loud.
I am wondering if its the rubber wheels?
either way I will just let it be as its not effecting the recordings or the platter speed.
I uploaded a video of it

Re: Training at Magnetic Fidelity in Greece
yes Jesus and Sabine are excellent!
They help make a custom mount for one of my cutting heads and is currently repairing a head.
He has been helpful in answering questions.
If you need any custom stuff for your lathe hit up Agnew Instruments.

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter
I am wondering if this thing can emboss? Or will it just cut pvc like the my shank blanks as I read it will use a diamond stylus. The reason why I would like embossing is because I can get polycarbonate locally and just get the tungsten off Ebay. Way cheaper then paying $200 something for diamonds I...

Re: Bone Record
that looks cool! i have tried cutting on x-rays with sapphire and it was a nightmare. You have to use a diamond to get it to work right but even the swarf that comes up from cutting can get tangled around the stylus causing mess ups. I think x rays in the old days probably were made of a different m...

Re: Double Groove/Horserace 6n/8n feedscrews Preorder!
im gonna mess around with it some more because from what im seeing i set the knife in a different thread then the first one i used.
i do see the black color and then right next to it the silver. i even make sure i to rotate the crank arm to see that it stays in the correct thread.

Re: Double Groove/Horserace 6n/8n feedscrews Preorder!
i do watch which thread the knife goes into Before i cut / emboss. A Problem example i have is: i start first song on the Black thread. When that is done i start the second song on the silver thread. i drop the needle maybe a few millimeters before where i started the first thread (Black) But once i...

Re: Double Groove/Horserace 6n/8n feedscrews Preorder!
so i finally have the double groove feedscrew after some modifications from Mike to make it fit with my 6n and it now fits perfectly. I have been experimenting with it using embossing with tungsten shank and i am getting mixed results every time i do a new record. Some times i can get a successful d...

Re: Presto 6N Feedscrew mounting problem
Is that the double groove screw that i just sent you? I noticed that that happened on one of the seven 6ns i have at the studio, because the clutch cone on that one is smaller than the rest. And you are right, the holes are a little deeper on those than they should be for best practice. On most lat...
