Isolating vacuum unit.

Hey everybody. Here is another question for you. Is it and has it been in the past, common for the vacuum unit of a professional lathe to be moved out of the room to lower the noise in the room? I understand the concept of a machine room but even the Neumann manual says to just put the unit under th...

As I get my footing here and was reading the responses to this question, I just noticed that my last post was edited down to one sentence. Did I post something inappropriate? Was I off topic? I really have enjoyed the information here and want to make sure I respect the forum as well as contribute i...

Is there any rule of thumb that dictates how much land there should be for increased trackability (is that a word?).

45 RPM 12" --- Why?

A friend gave me his newest vinyl release today. Total running time was 11minutes for side A and 10 minutes for side B. It is a twelve inch release running 45RPM. Is there any sonic quality loss or gain by doing this or were they trying to use up space? Are they just being different to seem cool. I ...

Thanks for the info! Will have to re-read that one a couple times to make sure that I got all of it down. For the most part, I have followed the procedure you outlined. I do have a manual and have followed the directions for head setup carefully. I do have the aluminum block and I have done a radius...

Platter leveling -- VMS 70

As I have been setting up my lathe, my biggest issue for the last day has been getting the platter completely level. When I first set it up, the platter had a visible wobble and when I cut un-modulated grooves, you could physically see darker and lighter sections. I pulled the flywheel of the turnta...

Thanks for the clarification on the machines. That is why I am focused on the cutting end and not the industrial! Just to be clear, the man who owns the industrial gear is named Vince Sluzars. I DO NOT own any of that. I do own the VMS-70 and work in conjunction with Vince. I just do not want anybod...

The presses came from New Jersey. There are mostly SMT machines but the few 7" are dual sided and another brand. The 7" machines are pretty dirty and will need a lot of work, but we are all hopeful. This project is a good example of the effort needed to get something like this up and running. Frozen...

Pressing In Cleveland.

I am currently working for the man in Cleveland, Ohio who has opened Gotta Groove pressing. He had 20 years of manufacturing experience and has an in-house engineer working for him. The have almost a dozen presses and after months of work have 4 running and 2 that are rock solid. He told me he is wo...
