Re: Presto 8-K Manual
The literature usually calls them k-#, but sometimes the serial numbers denote them as #-k. I guess it depends on year. That's all I can offer. I have a k-10 from 1950(?) and a 6-k from 1940 (?) .They're basically the same machine, aside from some extra gears on the 10 and a little difference in the...

Re: 3in records, Crosley etc
The 3”s they are selling are DEFINITELY not lathe cuts. You could make them on a k8 if you hang the head over further to the left. The Philco 3” player that these are modeled after would play 45s as well. Crosley screwed up not making these do it too. They are fun though. Actually you don't have to...

Re: Advice on lathe machines
I'm guessing the low output and distortion is due to bad capacitors in the amp and not necessarily the cutterhead itself. A bad head would be more likely to produce no sound at all. If you can solder, the schematics are available on this site and the caps are available fairly cheap. The tubes can be...

Just wondering why it was an option on the older cutters . What would have been the advantages?

Re: Printing on Clear Plastic Discs
I've done something similar. Screen printed an image on one side in reverse, then spray painted the background and cut the opposite side. It came out nice. I wouldn't recommend trying to cut on the printed side. That doesn't work out but it makes a nice one sided pic disc

Re: ideas for local marketing/dealing with clients (tiny bat
I wouldn't limit yourself to 5 copies. In some cases it might take you 5 test cuts just to get it sounding right. I personally have a minimum limit of 5, most people want 20 or more. I cap it at 50. If they can sell more than that they should get it pressed. Make sure they know what to expect: They ...

Re: K-8 speaker out to have two heads at once
That just might work. Assuming the speaker and head have the same impedance I don't see why it wouldn't. I'll give it a try. I've got a k10 and a k6 but I haven't rebuilt the amp in the k6 yet. If I can power both heads with the k10 that would be sweet.

Re: Presto K8 Lathe Arm
loosen the allen head set screw on the cap and remove the cap. Then loosen the two on the gear arm. Then it should pull straight up. It may be a little rusty so you might have to work it back and forth as you pull, but that's all there is to it.

correction again. my first post was correct. It is the seal from a pentair Challenger that works. It must be the OEM part and not the Aladdin go-kit part though. pentair p/n 355329

Re: K 8 Tire
I recently changed professions and am now a pool and spa repair tech. In the course of my work I've found a pretty good replacement. the housing seal off a pentair challenger pump is really close. it's not as wide but two of them will fit in the groove side by side. https://scontent-dfw1-1.xx.fbcdn....

Re: Presto Rebuild Kits on Ebay
I'd like to try it. I made my own voice coils when mine burnt, but I don't think they're nearly as nice as yours. I was listening to some older cuts yesterday and was shocked by how much louder they were than my more recent ones. would you prefer I use the ebay link, or deal with you directly and cu...
