Re: Restoring a Scully 501 lathe-anybody have literature/man
Welcome to the great odyssey! I have restored a Scully 501 with variable pitch and depth, all tube electronics fully automated with a Crestron PRO2... I would be happy to share what I have learned, of course with Len's utterly invaluable help.

Re: dgmGrooveGraphics - Text/Image to Audio for Groove Art
Hi Todd, sorry I have been out of the loop, but I would be willing to beta for you - running Win8/Nuendo4/6/5. Your MX VST ended up running, with the audio issues described elsewhere: 2dB gain skew, plus non-unity gain thru, minor issues really. Please keep up the GREAT work!

Still no joy in Nuendo - same result. Has anyone out there tried this with Cubase? Can't be too much more as others are getting in. I'm sanguine!

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Dr. Cuts Vinyl Mastering VST
Hi Todd! Tried plugin out on Nuendo 4 Win8, no joy, same as others; not being recognized by Nuendo. I am certain the folder is correct - it's in with some Slate plugins that do show up, and of couse vetted in PlugIn Info. This looks a wonderful plugin, particularly for the elliptical eq, which is pr...

Re: Lazaretto?
Maybe because the 32 lpi after lead-out is only invoked in the 2 pitch lead out? The 4 pitch does go right to locking groove in mine, it's hardwired that way. Backlash on feed out is controlled by a friction brake on the carriage shaft nearest the head. I got the record for Christmas, haven't played...

Re: Cutting nitemares? Am I alone?
My biggest one was when the vacuum failed and the chip balled up, flamed, and fried the left coil in my Westrex... I got there just in time to see the fireball, and hear the left side go dark in the FB monitor. Of course, the EQ had to be redone from scratch after Len bailed me out (in ONE day!), th...

Re: SOLD : Scully Westrex Cutting System
Thank you, Aussie! I plan to do a fairly extensive photo/video shoot on this, also this morning my partner has decided to scan and clean all the relevant docs with a view to giving them to our community: lathe manual, schematics of variable pitch/depth units, etc. I would share my Crestron code with...

Re: SOLD : Scully Westrex Cutting System
Hi Leo, the big knob actually controls the speed of the feedscrew, it is in turn controlled by the VPU via a small gearmotor/error pot combo that's part of the original lathe. Loosening the smaller knurled knob declutches the servo for manual operation. Thanks!
