Re: Dubplate shortage
I totally agree with all your comments - fortunately I don't make a living from cutting! There definitely needs to be competition in the Dub manufacture business, If Appollo for some reason went down the pan ? What then for the busy mastering houses? I know there would still be MDC but they appear d...

Re: Replicas
A thing of beauty.......... Any idea what the finished head mass will be? I basic drawing with the general geometry would be very useful so that potential customers can evaluate if this can be mounted on a specific lathe such as 1) Size & position of mounting screws, 2) Position of stylus from rear ...

Bryan
Regarding the calibration of your microscope perhaps placing a a standard vinyl disk (of the same rpm )under the scope would give you a reasonable idea of the divisions on your scope?

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Project Bladerunner
My guess the answer is springs! the ones that centralise the two parts of the driver and return it to its "normal" position ready for the next signal ie like the one on the surface transducers currently being discussed on the forum......... But I can't imagine how these could be plastic? Sure...

Re: V1.0 of Bryan's 3D printed head with feedback
Hi Bryan yes piano wire for torque tube and the soldered links to drivers the chrome tubes are from pen tops (actually propelling pencils)made from very thin brass then they are glued to the plastic discs (they look like brass) that are in turn epoxied to the driver cones, To facilitate alignment I ...

Re: V1.0 of Bryan's 3D printed head with feedback
Bryan you appear to be following a similar path to my own experiments ie. Alignment of coils within the driver etc the low temp aluminium weld looks interesting my torque tube is made from brass so that I can solder items to it, The drivers you found are very tough (I am now using the same) if you l...

Re: V1.0 of Bryan's 3D printed head with feedback
Bryan I reckon the stylus holder/torque tube is the most difficult part of a DIY cutter head and I guess you would agree! You need to bring together 4 different elements :- Stylus, 2 x driver links, torque tube support, Stylus screw, And all need to be done accurately and yet still allow free moveme...

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Now Offering Mono Coil Repair!
The saddle coil in the picture is one I have wound myself using a small winding jig I made it's a very simple set up that can likely be improved greatly but I could find nothing relating to saddle coil formers? The coils I have made are for my BSR cutter heads but it would be interesting to see a sa...

Looking Good Bryan thanks for posting this, I have now recieved a few of these same drivers and they appear pretty robust & I intend using them soon on my D.I.Y. attempt!

Caruso RIAA pre-amp Power Supply?
Hello,
Can any trolls recommend a suitable power supply to run the Caruso RIAA pre-amp (version 1.1) ?
I have noted the voltage required from the Vinylike site and I built the unit some months back but have so far been unable to locate a suitable (+/-) power supply.
Has anyone else built one?

Re: V1.0 of Bryan's 3D printed head with feedback
Bryan that looks great love the idea of off the shelf drivers, Do you mind me asking for details of the drivers? I am midway through a DIY head build but have found it difficult to locate drivers of the correct rating and size & they look just perfect .....I am not planning to include feedback at th...

Wanted to buy Microscope for Lathe
I would like to buy a Microscope for my lathe,
I understand x40 magnification to be the required amount,
Not too bothered about a stand or arm has I am sure I can put together something suitable,
But require the lenses & focusing mechanism to be in good shape.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you
