Presto 6N users - replacing rubber on spindle gear

Anyone ever replace the rubber on the bottom of the cutting arm where it connects with the spindle on the platter? One of mine has a tiny chip missing and from time to time it leaves a mark on the center on the records. Not a big deal for labels cover it but on some projects with no labels it shows ...

Fear of Music Records website launched

www.fearofmusicrecords.com

Since I'm doing so many projects for people I decided it was time to start my own lathe cut label too.

Have a look! :)

I had to replace one of mine and just used a normal on off switch from ace hardware, I just have to manually turn it off when the wheels aren't engaged, no biggie really. Just bring your old one with you and compare the handles so you get one the right length

I've cut about 12 records on mine so far and it's doing great. Everything from a minimal techno 12" for a friend of mine to some alternative stuff on 7" and some dub reggae 7" and some folk and metal, all resulting in great sounding cuts

Another possibility, the lacquers could be dried out. Are they new from apollo or old stock that were open?

You should check the feedscrew, I had an issue awhile back on the last part of some records I made that I noticed immediately that the groove was becoming shallow only on a couple revolutions, there was some chip that had somehow wrapped around the screw which was causing liftage. Maybe your screw h...

Hey Jay, I was told by Alan once that you can screw a long screw down in the center of the shaft and it will make the spindle come off, just male sure the thread if the same and it shops work just fine

I've cut a few 7"s and LPs so far with brilliant results. I don't understand why people are having chip issues, mine comes off just fine into the suction tube. Steven is offering a great product to people, don't let the lack of reply steer you wrong, his diamonds are the real deal and actually work!
