Re: Anyone have experience with Trimicron technology

They have just gone to fixed groove spacing and pulled the level down, thus increasing the playing time at the expense of reduced dynamic range.

I agree with Paul. Capacitors fail in many ways, its not off/on. Except for tantalums once they get too fast a rise time, then they go short. Some Frakos also do this, but not all.

The ferrofluid is held by the mag field, so should stay in place. That should help make the drivers more linear.

If the fuse blows as soon as you plug in the rectifier, then its not the cap. For it to be the cap, the filaments of the rectifier have to warm up.
But if the tube has a heater to plate short, that would do it. Or heater kathode short.

Sakuzsi who are you? You seem to be a troll of the worst kind. Perhaps you can enlighten the forum on exactly who you are, and why you feel you can comment on disc cutting. All I have seen from you is uninformed abuse.

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.

Brian, those VFD drives often need the cabling shielded, and it depends how good the output filter is.
There is another alternative. Get a grunty linear power amplifier that you can run in bridge mode to get 120 vac. Then feed a regular oscillator into it.
