Re: Screeching Sapphires.....

yeah that's what I was gonna say. the 10" are usually less flat or have a slight warp which causes the depth to change quickly, hence the screech.
if you add more weight the depth difference is less

Re: Recordette 3

that's about the best results I've gotten with my Recordette.
you could try getting a magnetic head, or getting the crystal head repaired but that's the only option for upgrading these WG machines

Re: Making Record Blanks - Idea's & preferences

Thanks for the info! What size of blank do you use most? I'm thinking of making a few 7 or 10 inch blanks on another machine. ETA on the blanks is about 6 weeks. If you send me your address I'll ship the to you once they're ready! Jurriaan awesome, I'll send a PM! I do much more 7in than anything e...

Desk Vibration Dampening

Hey trolls! I just moved into a new studio space, I’m renting an office in an old mill building. The subfloor is sturdy but the click in flooring on top is a little spongy in places. I’m wondering if anyone has any great solutions for vibration dampening my desk. keep in mind I am renting so it will...

Re: Making Record Blanks - Idea's & preferences

hey that's awesome! I've always thought injection molded blanks might work. the plastic place I get sheets from has been up and down with flatness over the years, shipping and storage can kink plastic sheets easily it seems. I use PETG and Polycarbonate blanks and would definitely be interested in a...

yeah David, big thanks on this thread.
I took your advice on FreeCad and Materialise to make a caruso to VR adapter.
I'll report back when it shows up!

great work, and those blanks look awesome! I'm sure people were thrilled. Live gigs are always so fun to get face time with folks who've never even imagined records could be cut in front of their eyes.

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - 320 Style Diamond Dub Test

Thanks for the info. It's good to see some public spirited effort is being made to show what's on offer here. Specs as diligent as 'Ultra long life' and 'best sound' is what we have to suffer here in Europe... I would be interested to give this one a try. Can you ship to APO boxes? hey Tony, Opcode...

Re: Stylus wear always on the same side

it could be the internal linkage of the head is slightly favoring one side, or the head mount naturally settles a little to one side.
VR owners know that the head to lathe mount doesn't have a detent or anything to indicate or guarantee exact head positioning.

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

anyone out there know how to find those screws that hold the overhead on to the halfnut+feedscrew mechanism? they keep falling out on my 2nd VR, and I just wrenched the head off the second one putting it back in. I should have grabbed a photo when they were out of the assembly, but that would have b...

FS: Vinyl Recorder T560 Accessories (optimizer, mon switcher, mixer)

hey Trolls, I'm selling the original accessories that came with my T560, I don't use these pieces with my setup and I'm hoping someone else can. they all pass signal, mixer turns on and all appears to work as intended, though I didn't test them in a cutting scenario. Vinyl Optimizer - SOLD M̶o̶n̶i̶t...

Re: MyShank Nightingale Cutterhead

Does he sell that whole setup or just the head? I’d be interested in one of these complete setups. I know there can be a little bit of a lead time, but I wouldn’t mind for this kind of setup. I’ve been trying to get a Vinyl Recorder but Souri hasn’t responded to me in 2 years!! from the site it loo...

Re: Possible Sources For Polycarbonate

could be worth it for tests! though the stuff I've seen out in the world is usually much thicker than the 1/16" stuff I cut on. and I would imagine the level of warps and scuffs is much higher. heck I get scuffs and warps sometimes with the protective sheeting still on just moving them around my stu...

Re: Cutting and artistic rights

Yeah I got a cease and desist from a lawyer representing a US band. A client of mine ordered single copies for personal use of a few live recordings, which seemed unintended for official release by the band. I made the records, the client shared on instagram and boom I had a very serious cease and ...
