yes it does, but you'll prefer saphir I thinkPhinster wrote:Will this diamond stylus cut lacquer? Are specs similar to a Transco type M?
Diamond is very good for hard materials. By heating the diamond you can cut lacquer but result depend a lot of your setup configuration.
I did, and it works...but not everywhere
There is no facets on a diamond, at this time, impossible to make.
Stylus are like NSH-2 1um tip
Steven, you said you were cutting on blank pressed records... what color were they? There was a discussion elsewhere (and it has been my experience also) that black records are not good. What have you used?

Sorry I was talking about my own stylus...not every stylus
Would have to be more precise hehe
Anyone else been using these? I'm at about four hours of use for one offs and practice cuts, etc and about to jump into an actual full run of 7"s. Just curious what everyone elses experiences have been. I'm very happy with the sound quality, and so far the durability... just really hope that they stand the longevity test...

I was looking at the links to services that appear in a "sticky" note at the head of the forum. You should put yourself in there so people can find you. It's not very well used lately, that particular page but anyone with services to offer, remind us in the services/links pages!

yes, correct no facets -> hard materials, plastic, copper.
facets for laquer cutting (to burnish the groove walls)
I received my stylus from shank long time ago, now I did some
tests, only 45RPM 7inches and a few 10inches, I cutted approx. 40 discs, both sides, and some LEXAN, works pretty good, low noise, without heating, only a small bulb over the discs...
I use antistatic fluid on every surface, before cutting, to get
the chip off the plate...
good work mr. shank !!!
correct mounting is a must, to have long stylus lifetime, mounting
is not so easy, I am still not happy, after some research...

What specifically do you use on the discs prior to cutting to control static? where do you get it?
