My new "old" Scully lathe project

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

It looks like a modified sc99, that setup looks really nice, very nice Job, I need to get my sc99 modified like that!! That platter motor looks like a flokason and floka pitch/depth controller, I'm really liking this setup!!

Wow very nice! Are you still using the VTL amps with this setup? Were they MB-450s?

For this setup I use HIGHER FIDELITY 138 mono power amps, vinylium minicut and tube control unit, custom made by David Manley. This comination sounds very good, I attached a review by Michael Fremer from Stereophile magazine.

Best, Thorsten

They look great, Jvo said that when you had the same gear on the VMS80 it was one of the best setups he had ever heard.
Awesome, thanks for posting the review!

My hats off & I'm drooling... You just dont see stuff like this in OZ

Love the newport table...

I've only got a mono presto lathe, but ive got it fixed onto a newport 488 height adjustable platform which enables me to accommodate for different turntables and disc thickness...

Anybody looking for precision tables, platforms and stages you cant beat newport + thorlabs
