my setup

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Well done. I would have liked to see the overhead in more detail and heard the playback but still good.

Dope!

That stereo head looks pretty sweet. Thank you for sharing.

I have a mix up on soundcloud search nexus6ix the mix is called lathe cut dub mix check that for playback keep in mind I played it on numark pt 1 so on a regular deck the fidelity would be slightly higher.

Quite commendable results, Fred. I don't have a Soundcloud account, and they wanted me to get one, but if you just go to soundcloud.com/nexus6ix, there it is! I don't see or hear vacuum in your YouTube video, so I assume you're embossing. Would be interested to know: is stylus homebrew or bought, and if so from whom; what material you're embossing on; and the vertical angle of your stylus to the record surface. For the relatively small diameter you're recording at, the sound is remarkably bright.

Well, it sounds quite respectable. Do you use a lubricant? A snapshot of the system in action would be helpful. Thanks!
