Alibaba for blanks??

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Alibaba for blanks??

Hey guys.. .Anyone tried Alibaba for their blanks?

Anything to avoid when cutting with a vinyl recorder?

I would presume a search of 'PVC plastics suppliers' may be fruitful, or am I wasting my time?

Any advice from anyone who's searched this path would be awesome!

Cheers

I've heard that PVC roasts diamonds really quickly. I'm pretty sure blanks are PETG plastic.

I can confirm that PETG is very good for Blanks. I get my sheets 4'X8' clear 2mm thick and then cut it myself 12"x12". I made a template made out of old Blanks stack on top of each other and use a router with bearing. But you have to make a hole first of 7.5mm with a good drill bit. Oh! I did show a Blank from Souri to the Plastic supply and they are the one that confirm that it's PETG.

the black blanks from souri are special coated/sandwich layer. the middle part is black, the layers on both sides are transparent/clear.
you see the chip while cutting is clear ;) this material is not easy to source.
better buy blanks from myshank or souri :)

You're right andybee. It is impossible to get this kind of coated/sandwich plastic sheet in Canada or USA....it's seem that it's only available in Europe.
Unfortunately, Souri is not responding to my email since November 22, 2021 and I sent emails every week. I found that strange that after almost 13 years I have a Souri's machine and he's not returning my email. I'm buying a 100 blanks every 3 or 4 months. I will try to reach Myshank at this point.
