305° Heissdampföl replacement
Hello all!
I am looking for a replacement of this oil "305° Heissdampföl" - used in the oil coupling of the Neumann turntable. Does anyone know a good replacement?
All the best wishes from Berlin, Helmut.

Dear Helmut!
Normally you should be able to recycle the oil in the coupler as it is not really lubricating and doing nothing special.
It is rather used as a rough lowpassfilter/damper for filtering out the noise from the lyrec motor...
Unfortunately I also lost the can with the sticky stuff from my last turntable disassembly so I need some too...
Had a quick look and found this stuff:
https://www.regner-dampftechnik.com/product-page/hei%C3%9Fdampf%C3%B6l-hei%C3%9Fdampfzylinder%C3%B6l
"Für echtes Heißdampföl gibt es keine Alternative." - für die kleine Dampf-Modelleisenbahn und große Lackfolienschneidetische?
Evtl. sollte man nachfragen ob es zäh wie Honig ist bevor man bestellt?
Oder für den Skipper auf dem Containerschiff:
https://laemmle-chemicals.ch/de_ch/products/automotiv/schiff/dampfzylinderoele.php
Denke je höher die Viskosität umso besser?

Re: 305° Heissdampföl replacement
Replace your lyrec and all is fine….
I would go with the thickest gear oil for Oldtimers
Or maybe fill it with some Polyurethane or silicone 2k
Material...
No more oil mess . this is 1920 technology and I guess we have some possibilities hundred years later
Also a good time to think about modern couplers instead of rubber disks
Then the 50/100 hz problematic is less
