Presto 6N guidance suggestions? (piecing together)

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

The A920, is that the single channel mixer/preamp? Does it have a balanced or unbalanced output?

Would one of you trolls out there with a 6N mind lifting your platter and taking detailed pictures of the motor mounting? I am missing the motor mount bracket and will need to fashion one. Measurements would also be very helpful! :)
Thanks for your continued help!

Any chance you could take some pics with a ruler against the bracket parts from various angles? I would like to find out the height of the risers the are on the motor bracket itself...and perhaps the table bracket as well. And I guess how far the curve extends from the flat parts on the ends. I actually have access to a tracing of the motor bracket but not the one that is fastened to the table.
Thanks again!

So I keep on tinkering and tinkering. I want to get a proper switch for this table. I have a On-Off-On switch I bought, but not only is it not able to be adjusted to allow the proper amount of travel, it occured to me that it should be a momentary switch...otherwise it wouldn't automatically snap back when you moved to the middle selection unlest you did it manually.

I realize a push button switch was used as well as a toggle. Has anyone found a decent replacement switch that works as originally intended?
Thanks

What are all of you using for monitors? How about monitor headphones? I pulled these old tweed monitors out of the attic, but have not yet decided how to best use them.

Image

How does everyone here drive their monitor system? Do you use a separate PA amp?

Still working and collecting. I managed to get this Collins 212A-1 Broadcast console. Gonna need some work. Missing one big knob and some buttons. Anybody out there have parts for these?

Once again, it seems I am in the presence of equipment porn.

That console is a beaut. It's a dream of mine to piece together an analogue studio from roughly that era. Nice find.

I managed to find the correct meters as a pair...and the missing knob was actually stuffed inside the console. I still need a handle and some of those little buttons.

Ok, so a little developement. I managed to get another Presto 6N table and lathe together. This one has the 190-A equalizer and rack mounted companion switch.

And I'm gonna permanently mount a 6N overhead to the Micro Engineering transcription table.

Got my work cut out for me.

Doing more cleaning. I saw that newer turntable does not have the large ball bearing thing like the first. This one seems to have a small ball bearing stuffed into the shaft of the turntable itself. Is this normal:

Image

It seems to spin fine, but I wanted to make sure I am not missing a bearing.

Also, it seems there is some sort of transformer involved with the motor circuitry. Does anyone else have this?
