Newly acquired sp10

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

I updated to a technics sp10 for my VR setup. Much smoother cutting all around, quite happy with it!

So much awesome! That is a great combination right there! Really fantastic. Sometime soon I would love to come by and mount a Bladerunner on there and do some tests. That would help me out a lot.

definitely less wow/flutter.
in the past with the 1200, it wasn't so much wow/flutter all the time, but sometimes on the outside edge of certain blanks it would be very pronounced and ruin the cut. sometimes the A side was fine, but the B side would be too much.
now even with some slightly warped blanks, I get a clean cut.

opcode, I'd be super down for that!

The platter and motor from Souri are nice. Very rugged.

I believe this was acquired second hand and not directly from Souri, corrct?

I really dont see how Souri would sell one to you or Dietrich given his selective sales practices.

I bought it on my own, secondhand, independently of any support.
it's not easy, but I'm working through it.
due to the costs involved, the work for the machine is not as constant as the lofi lathe cuts.
(ie customers are often looking for the cheap option)
But when this thing is running, it's much higher quality, and easier to do work on.
