CD Centre Hole Adapters?

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

I know Mike PIAPTK has made his own, they work great and look snazzy.

I've just glued or taped 45 RPM punchouts to the center, not elegant at all but gets the job done.

The 45 punch out is a great idea, I'll head along to a plumbing supplier and see what they hsve

_MG_5338.JPG
for playback i do this:
i cut a 46 mm (in diameter) circle with a 7 mm centre hole out of card board (or thick magazin covers ...) and glue them onto the CD

for recording:
i use a 15 mm (in diameter) plastic round bar with a drilled centre hole (7,3 mm)

Hi There,
Has anyone had any joy with these 45 RPM Jukebox Record Dinkers + Centres or would they remove too much material and crack the C.Ds.??

Pretty sure that dinker is only for UK 45s like pictured below. I believe it breaks the center out and doesn't actually cut. I don't think it has a blade and even if it did, the poly being so brittle it would break the CDs every time.

Hi There,
Oh yes, I now clearly see what you mean (Shoulda Looked a little Closer perhaps, Oops), I'd never seen one of these gizmos in action, and I didn't realise they are not a cutter as such. Another thought was using a Hole Saw but again I guess the CDs would be quite difficult to hold securely while making the cutout. Scope in the marketplace for a CD Modification Gizmo I think, as a quick glance at the many videos on the tube seem to indicate that CDs are an often used media for experimenters and experienced cutters alike. MMMmm??Te He  :P :D

I have a bunch that I had custom made. They are $.25 each. They are nice, because they are slightly sloped on the side, so they sort of pop in and stay put more or less. email me at lathecuts-a-t-ya-hoo-dawt-cawm
