Presto K8 - 33rpm adapter

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Presto K8 - 33rpm adapter

I've been cutting with K8 for a while but it's set up at 78rpm. Do I need special pulley on the motor to record on 33 or 45rpm?
As far as I can tell K8 does not use any rubber rollers between motor and platter, right?

Unless someone completely replaced the original motor capstan, you should be able to cut 33. The native capstan was for 33rpm and then you put the included sleeve over it to cut 78. They made one for 45 too but I've never seen a factory made one. So, if your motor capstan has a solid top with a nub on the end you have the 78 sleeve installed.

Thanks a lot! I now looked at the pulley and it's made of 2 parts. It was very hard to separate them. But I sorted it out.
By the way, is there any manual for K8 available online? All links here (and google) are dead...
