Whoa. First off, that is DEFINITELY not a 6n overheAd. Looks like it was homebrewed by whoever the prop master for The Terminator Movie was. Pretty sweet looking.

Re: Presto Lathe 6N
I looks like it's supposed to be driven by the turntable like a traditional 6N overhead but the dimensions make it look like the head would be much too far forward for a proper cut. It could have been adapted/designed as a motor driven feedscrew set up given that connector/clutch system on the opposite end of the crank wheel. Looks complicated beyond all belief....

Re: Presto Lathe 6N
Hi friends, thanks to everyone answer me about my Presto 6n
Maybe I undestand how my homebrew cutting arm works. It is a brilliant solution (see pictures).
To couple the arm to the plate it uses a pulley to reduce the transmission of vibrations. It is brilliant!
Thanks again at all

Re: Presto Lathe 6N
Hi friends, I need more help for my Presto 6N
In pictures below I show with a pointed yellow pencil the shaft of the two pulley mountend on an "half-moon" of brass. it must to be locked by the screw or can rotate freely ? when it is free to rotate, the pulley don't engage the turntable and the motor idles. Some idea to adjust this part ?
Excuse me again for my english.

Re: Presto Lathe 6N
That screw should be tight, but the post should rotate freely. Do you have the black rubber idler wheels that mount on those posts? If you do and you still cant get it to work, there is a screw on the right side of the horseshoe shaped bar that the motor hangs from. That screw is in an elongated hole and you can move the whole motor towards you a little.
Good luck! Mike
