lose pitch with VR

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

lose pitch with VR

have a little problem when cut 12" records with Vinyl Recorder machine: at the beginning of cutting, about 1 cm of width the record lose pitch, then seems ok with good pitch.
I can try to reduce the weight of stylus but I don't know if is a good solution. The external motor that sell Souri can be a good solution? I don't check the technics motor but I change it about 1-1,5 year ago.
All solution can be appreciated.

With 10",8" and 7" I have no problems.
Thanks in advance for help

For the price of Souri's external motor and steel plate you can get a nice SP-15 or if you are patient an SP-10mk2. The SP-10mk2 is becoming very expensive on eBay, but sometimes you can still get a good deal. If you are good with electronics, the SP-15 can be a real bargain. A lot of them sell for parts because they have the famous speed problems, running backwards etc... but if you are capable of replacing all capacitors and installing a new chip from Fidelis Analog (much higher spec than the original) then you can have a solid, archive quality turntable for a sensible price with money left over for blanks and diamonds... Bon chance.

- Little bit less weight
- Round extra lead in groove
- Don't monitor your cut (less weight innit)

You can get away with it, but tricky
