Which digital microscope do you use for cutting?

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Hi folks.. please excuse me if this was previously asked, but I was not able to find anything.

What digital microscopes are you fine folks using for your audio cutting and visual monitoring?

I prefer to look at it on a screen, as I tried a cheap eBay one, but the software is now unavailable.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I use a MUSTOOL G1200 Digital Microscope 12MP 7 Inch, you can find them in most countries on eBay, about €80 roughly. It's a cheap budget camera but it does the job, I can zoom enough to gauge groove depth/width using the battery symbol in the corner the screen as a marker for my unmodulated groove, and comparing it to the lead in groove on my test record and various other pressings. Its rudimentary but seems to do ok until I can afford a professional camera. Battery life is a long time, charge it once a month maybe? Use it a few times a day.

I've already got a microscope that you can see the grooves by looking down an eye piece but looking at getting a microscope camera hooked up to a monitor to make it more convenient. I've been looking at getting one of these (link below) as I've seen most of the big cutting studios have them on their lathes. I've spotted them on youtube videos and instagram posts. Wondering if anyone else has experience with these?

Checked some youtube reviews and this is definitely a monster camera! That's the one I'm gonna get! Thanks for sharing!

To mount it, first you must break it off from its base stand, with pliers you can prise open the base mount. Next you must take off the original gold bars completely, but use the nut that connects them to also connect this new camera. Then you need a spacer, I used a piece from a socket set.
