Boiler Pressure / Temperature??

Once you have cut a master laquer, you have metal stampers created and have records pressed from them. Discuss manufacturing here. (Record Matrix Electroforming- Plating, Vinyl Record Pressing.)

Boiler Pressure / Temperature??

Hey Trolls. Seeking some guidance.

Up and running for about 9 months now, and things have been quite the learning experience as almost every setting / variable that we have been told by RPA and NewBilt has had to change drastically, as I understand every pressing facility is different.

Just curious what pressure / temperature some of you trolls are pressing at out there.

Many thanks!

Cheers,
J

Ideal steam pressure for shortest cycle time is 140 - 170 psi. Cooling water MUST be at the same pressure.

Something else for short cycle time is a trimmer within easy reach of each press. ie : you're standing at the press. You take the record out and you turn 30 degrees to place the record on the trimmer. No walking - just turn and place that fucker on the trimmer.

This business of Newbilt press operators walking over to the single solitary trimmer and standing around having a chat like its a water fountain while the press is open has gotta stop.
Note that the press should be open only for the time it takes to remove a record and to load labels and puck - a little over 5 seconds

A 45 second cycle time is not conducive to maximising your production capacity, especially when you consider your investment. I'm sure you can do it in 30 seconds.

So what is your steam and water pressure and what exactly is it that you want to know?

Thanks Aussie.

Haha, yes we've had to move our cutting table closer and closer to our presses. Always looking for ways to shorten our cycle time yet maintain quality. Currently running two people for our two presses. One man doing the loading of labels and biscuits, the other unloading, trimming, quality control and stacking. Seems to be about the only way we can run two presses at once without suffering quality control / cycle time.

Right now we are pressing at 145psi. and cooling at 70 degrees F.

At the original time of this post, we had so many questions, and the questions kept piling up, but we eventually found our groove.

Many of the parameters that we have been told to "never change" or whatever, really needed to change to suit our needs. Our crash course with newbilt and RPA was great, we would make these plastic discs that looked like records, with 18-20 cycle times, but really sounded like shit. Took a while to get over the "don't" of RPA and Newbilt and do what exactly what it took to make a great sounding record.

Super happy with the system, just took a while to get the flow.

Thanks for the help!

Cheers,
J
