is somebody using a dc motor as direct drive on a VMS ?
Hello ,
I am looking since a long time for a option to replace the lyrec motor by a modern DC motor.
Is somebody already did it ?
or is somebody has a sugestion ... ( I already read the previous topics about that)
about the torq , I beleive than 1 Nm is enough , is it right ?
thanks

It's been suggested that the high pole brushless dc motor from a washing machine could be used.
People use TT's with anywhere up to 12kg-cm or torque.

dc motor
Hello Nickou,
What is the use of a modern dc motor as long as the Lyrec hasn't gone down ? You still have to use the same coupling shaft and the same oil dashpot so there won't be an improvement on the rumble figure and tightness of the low end like you get with the Technics motor drive.

What's wrong with the Lyrec motor? If it's in good condition and hooked up correctly there shouldn't be any problems. And the Technics motor is unobtainable anyway - no need to spend time fantasizing about that one.
