LK-1 Audionics of Oregon

Turntables, tonearms, preamps, amps, cables, monitor speakers. What do you use to play back your one-off dubplates or pressed records? (related topics, too.)

LK-1 Audionics of Oregon

Wanted to share some pics of the rare find from an estate sale recently.
It's an LK-1 turntable from Audionics of Oregon. It has a Signet XK50 tonearm which alone was worth the $80 I paid for it. I believe it's the same as the Audio Technica AT-1000. The power plug and feet were missing and the metal plinth seems to need some aligning/adjustment. All part of audiophile routines though, so no biggie.

I have the Dearth Vader version of the LK-1, serial number 20090. The body, lid, and platter on mine are all made of high-density urethane foam. I picked it up from a vintage speaker repair shop in Fort Wayne, IN as part of a larger system. It was missing the power supply, but the guys found what it needed and included it in the sale. It came with a Linn Basik tonearm, brown Grado cartridge. What is the SN of your LK-1? Any updates on your progress? Would love to compare notes. Not much about these out there.

Hey Wandaru

I'm soooo sorry I missed your post! I tend to check a few threads here for pressing and classifieds and totally forgot I posted the LK-1.
Man yours is a Darth Vader look alike! I haven't seen one in real pictures so very 😎 cool! Thanks so much for posting those pics!
Well the tan beast has laid dormant in my office since then but I have the week off and will dust it off and give it some proper attention. I've had my system packed up too long and need some grooves. I will check the serial number too so we can compare. I noticed the metal plates on mine were a bit wonky so need to look into that. Maybe I'll be able to tell if my arm is a replacement or original. Strange yours is S type and mine is straight.
I've been missing my loyal BIC 980 and RP-1... Packed up due to our temp living situation... The BIC is great for cartridge changing. I have about 50 or so needles from my dad's collection he passed on to my son and I. 6 turntables between us now...
Have a Merry Christmas 🎄⛄!
