Andy ,

I never made any cut on pvc or lexan

how is the sound compare to a acetate ?
more noise ? how many db ? more and less ...

how many hours you can cut with it ? more and less ...

thanks

diamond styluses are used to cut into hard materials,
for laquer, a stylus with facets are recommend, because
they polish the groove walls.
so basically:
diamond -> pvc, lexan, copper etc.
saphir -> laquer
I sold a vinlyium diamond to do some tests with "cold" cutting
into laquer, but I didn´t received any results, or I can´t remember :)
I you cut with diamond into pvc or lexan, the backround noise
is more then a good old laquer cut.
in my mind, a pvc cut sounds not so smooth, a bit harder, more like
a DMM cut, but this is also a cutterhead & mastering thing...

Any chance of your supplier mounting them on a long presto style shank?

Hello there

some answers to your questions :

Diamond quality : the diamond we used is the best actually existing.
After an analysis of Vinylrecorder and Vinylium stylus, it proved that our material is of a higher quality (what justifies the price). We can build stylus like the others but we prefer to manufacture a higher quality.

Stylus shank : all shank are available. Let us know the differents size you need and let's go. Actually, shanks for SX68/74/SC99 and vinylrecorder are available. Others on request (normally, no additinnal cost).

Laquers cutting : yes you can. Angles are exactly the same as NSH.

PVC cutting : no problem. you can also cut blank pressed records. Background noise is really low, of course a little bit higher than PVC but pretty good!.

Stylus lifetime : today, I'm cutting up the 100 hours with the same stylus, and still looks like new. No noise, no tip defect. PVC and blank pressed records were cutted.

So, the shank, you are partners in the same diamond venture as andybee? How do we order? Anyone have the specs of a long shank stylus?
