Laserdiscs for cutting for sale
I have a ton of Laserdiscs that I have accumulated for cutting. They are perfect for cutting 12"s... already sized, cheap, and sound good when cut right using any sapphire or stellite sylus. And they look really cool. All you have to do is trim up a yellow spider by cutting off the little wings on the feet, and seal it between two labels and you are ready to cut. Plus most of them come in the really nice plastic lined sleeves. I paid $1-$3 a disc for most of them.
20 discs - $20 (plus $8 post in the US)
50 discs - $40 (plus $15 post in the US)
100 discs - $70 (plus $25 post in the US).

Uhh are you being sarcastic? You can cut into anything.castillian500 wrote:OLD VIDEO LASER DISKS ARE A SUBSTITUTE FOE DUB PLATES ?
I prefer video discs...a comfy medium between VHS and laserdisc.
And I would love to pick some up. Salvation army/goodwill always gouges the price hard. 70¢ ain't bad.
Are you cutting (actually removing material), or just scratching the surface (what we call embossing but technically the wrong word)? I would imagine trying to actually cut them with a sapphire would be problematic, yea?

Laserdiscs are a cheap substitute for dub plates, yes. Obviously not as good, but pretty damn good sounding, considering. Light white noise background. They will wear down your styli faster, but not horribly so. I usually got 300 min of cutting (with vacuum and heat) before the stylus got rounded and got too noisy.
But after they get rounded, you can turn them around and use the to emboss poly !
I cut, not "emboss" laserdiscs, they dont emboss well.

Laserdiscs are not appropriate for hi fidelity applications ..castillian500 wrote:POWERSTRIP - I am not being sarcastic. I am new to this. My application is to cut signals into records for a test record to help turntables run better.
