Looks rusty! I don’t know who can fix one. But getting a Westrex, Grampian, or Neumann, you have support. I just sold an extra Type D for $400...the market is down now!

Where do you see rust? Looks cosmetically nice to me.

One possible place for support and repair for Ortofon cutterheads (and other Ortofon vinyl mastering gear) is Etec in Denmark - http://www.etec.dk/ortofon-vintage.html

Best regards,

I think the 'rust' referred to is a blurry image of the rubber dust-cover that encircles the stylus shank/armature. I would say it is fine.

This is a very elegant and well engineered head, would not be good for a beginner, though as it was said to me, I would highly suggest buying it.

Hey Dietrich, didn’t know that was you! I see CT on it now. But what I said is still true, there is some rust on it...maybe ETEC can fix it. George Alexandrovich could probably fix it too.

It’s supposed to be a fantastic sounding head. Whoever gets this should look for the matching amp, but will also have to send it out. I saw these heads in person...

Same deal goes for Grampian heads: the coils can be good, but they can sound dark without a proper cleaning inside. So the condition in the listing is represented correctly, because it will need cleaning..but that cleaning has to be done by someone qualified to work on heads
