UNIVERSAL ELECTRIC RECORD LATHE ON EBAY COMMENTS PLEASE
What information am I looking for ?
1) can this machine be used with currently available dub plate cutting systems from Germany and Switzerland ?
2) Does it have to have vacuum tube amplification to work ? Can modern solid state equipment be used ? If so , what specifically ?
3) it needs a motor , what kind for the US , specifically RPM and HP ? Voltage is assumed to be 115 AV or 220 AC for us. Am I wrong about this ?
4 ) cutting head of not the German or Swiss models that's CURRENTLY available ?
ANYTHING I HAVE MISSED HERE ? I am new at this and my application is to cut signals into dub plates for a turntable improvement product.

RECORD LATHE ON EBAY
He wants $ 2,000.00 for this. This seems outlandish. Given the uncontrollable variables involved it seems that the $ 6,000.00 Swiss system is best.
you would need to obtain an amp to drive that head, and even so it's response is limited.
I can't be sure, but I think those heads were wound to 500 ohm, meaning modern solid state power amps couldn't do the job, or would need work even still.
If you're looking for a solid method for lacquer cutting, your best bet is a new 'dub cutter' model.
Check out the lathe trolls wiki for a great breakdown in pricing/capabilities of record cutting units.

RECORD LATHE ON EBAY
So it looks to me that the Swiss dub plate cutter / lathe system run on a Technics 1200 series turntable is the only way to go. The German one has a demand that I go to Germany for training. Thanks for your response.
