In January we're heading out to Santiago, Chile for a short Tour to promote a Skratch Tool and and Album by the Chilean Turntablist Jazz group Modusoperandi.
Redmist, Gozt, FSO, and Daniel Perez put together a wide ranging pallette of sounds onto a 12" record called Phonosophy, which is coming soon on Cut & Paste Records. With this library of audio snippets, they have also started work on a full length album of all-skratched Jazz music.
Their live performaces are incredible, and showcase a musicality, subtlety and improvisational side of skratch music that is lacking from most of the scene, which is often percieved to be all about competitions and showing off.
Skratchlords is an international group of turntable deviants who go all-out on the freestyle audio assault - fast paced, high energy beats provide the landscape for the sonic havoc they wreak.
Cut & Paste Records have made a name for themselves over the past 5 years as one of the best producers of skratch tools for the turntablist community. Now past 20 releases on wax, their focus on quality and originality has set them apart from the bustling scene. When they're not hauling records around the planet, they perform weird and wild musical concoctions created out of piles of charity shop vinyl.
The current social situation in Chile has unfolded since we started planning the tour, but unless the planes stop flying, we're going! If anything we're looking forward to showing our support for the people rising up against their oppressive government, maybe we can learn a thing or two from them while we are there
