...from Spain. Wish I had some spare money. Description reads like a fairy tale that came true:

exactly what i thought... it also states its advertised elsewhere... i'd assume Trolls would be one place... and a quick google showed 0 results??

payapl will only cover you upto $20k per item.. so i'd be VERY wary

In addition to the red flag that there is only one picture, another red flag in my book is that the one picture is horizontally flipped. Why? That has to be intentional and usually means someone is trying to trick others in some way, such as using a stolen picture.

Corrected (the word "test" is easily read as such unlike the one in the auction).

If I remember correctly we've seen one or two of these on EBay and I thought they ended up in LA. However, David Manley set one up in Paris which he sold to Germany. The owner of that one has done some great work on it and posted pics here in the forum.

So where did the second one end up? Or were there three made?

The description in this eBay listing is taken from the Manley website. I hear the seller is happy to sell offline but wants money wired to his bank account.

There are a few red flags here. Best to be very very careful.

pretty easy to know if it's a scam or not...just mail him you want to come over and see the lathe. It's "convenient" Aracena is in the middle of nowhere though......

In the original ad that I saw a few years ago they also had a shot or two of the drive package. IIRC it was a pair of mono blocks with a custom unit that I assumed was the feedback amp and a summing circuit to drive the cutter.

I know the previous owner of this lathe and cutting system. He used to have it set up in his mastering studio in Los Angeles. Some time ago he sold it to a man in Canada and it was shipped there. The photos that are on ebay are of the setup when he had the system operating in his studio in LA. I have been in that room. So not unless this system was sold and shipped to Spain, proceed with caution if you are going to bid.

I don't know, but would it be that difficult to take pics with a phone and then just post them on the auction listing? Even pics of the lathe just sitting in a storage room someplace not set up would be ok.

The concept of using photos of it for the listing set up someplace else just seems ridiculous and sticks out as a big red flag to me. Caveat emptor for sure. :|

Another odd thing about this is only $65.00 for worldwide shipping?
What a deal!
