Rek-o-Kut Arm from Ebay
Hello,
It's my first post after a small introduction in newbi post.
I am between build from scratch and find a "ready to cut system"
So it's a newbi question :
You've seen probably on Ebay the Rek-o-kut arm for 600$ and I would like to know :
If I make a support and using it directly on my direct drive turntable, It should work and move or I need more parts to use this "arm"
Thank all and have a good week-end,
Fabougino

You will of course need a cutter head, stylus, amp, etc. But for just the mechanics of the arm, the issues are going to be 1) the overhead requires a second turntable stud to rotate it correctly, so you would need to make some sort of modification for that purpose, and 2) does your turntable have enough torque to maintain correct speed while also driving the overhead? You have to have a high torque turntable of some type, if you search the site you'll find quite a few threads regarding the issue.

Re: Rek-o-Kut Arm from Ebay
Just want to say I purchased the previous identical arm the same seller had up a couple of months ago, and he did a wonderful job restoring the arm to it's full functioning glory. The arm is fully lubricated and worked like a charm right out of the box.
He also offered me this one and said it was freshly painted and refinished but I was impatient to get it shipped so I got the other one. Great seller.
Also I am successfully using mine without any sort of second stud on the platter. Using a much beefier turntable than a 1200 but it is working just fine with just the weight of the arm and the single stud in the center of the platter. Go for it!!

Regular (modern) power amp or decently powered receiver is fine if you get a head that is wound for 8 ohms. Depends on the head. Don't know about that turntable but you could try it out and look at getting something bigger like a technics sp-10 if it isn't sufficient.
