Wow that's ambitious. They are looking for a supervisor with 10-15 years experience on the factory floor with "perfect hearing". I don't think you can work in such a factory for all those years and have perfect hearing.
Clearly, they haven't done this before but whoever wrote the job specs has asked the right questions and they seem to be on the right track. Good luck to them.

That supervisor position listing is bananas. They want a guy to fix the presses, cut the records, plum up the hydraulics and pneumatics, train the new guys, set the production schedule, like, know dudes in the industry or something, plus still be able to hear real well and they wanna pay him between $40,000 and $50,000? They guys they are describing exist, but they are basically saying, "We have the stuff, start our factory for us, you will get about $20/hr. You know, around half as much as you would get driving a semi." I don't mean to sit back and snipe, I'm glad to hear someone is starting a factory, and I wish them luck, but comon, pay these people with the one in a million skillset a wage proportional to their knowledge.

The other new plant in Memphis is offering $11-$13 an hour for press operators. Work that one out!

That's not totally absurd. The cost of living is low in Memphis and being a press operator is a pretty standard manual labor job. I've worked at UPS and been a press operator, the pay scale was comparable and the work was comparable. I think any skilled manual laborer should start in at $15/hr, so that's about where a press operator with a few years experience should be. Sadly, plenty of plants don't pay their press operators a cent above minimum wage.Aussie0zborn wrote:The other new plant in Memphis is offering $11-$13 an hour for press operators. Work that one out!

Hi Everyone , it's Canada Boy . While we are all standing around the water cooler my mind wanders to a quote by the ever inspiring Mr Jimi Hendrix " now as you all know ,you can't believe everything you see and hear can you ? "

I was making a joke about standing around the water cooler and gossiping. If any of you have any Questions about Canada Boy send me a private message and I would be happy to answer them personally . Everything else you are reading on these posts is all speculation and opinions , which doesn't mean much . Just Gossip

We are building a plant here in Calgary AB. My friends and I have been playing it pretty close to the chest , then someone had leaked an article out about us online. We had no intention on going public as we are still under construction and have many months to go until we are ready . All I can say is we are a complete cutting , plating and pressing facility and hope to be up and running by March 2015 . We have many challenges ahead , one of then being the stiff immigration laws in Canada, and lack of resources here in the Great White North. It's cold and lonely in the Canadian world of record pressing !!

Good luck with your venture. Let us know when you are up and running.

Just reviewed my first set of test pressings from this plant. Single LP that I cut. I thought they sounded good. Very promising. No complaints about having another plant around.
