Presto K-7 K-8 microphones

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Hey Ya'll, I have a k-7 and a k-8. In the instructions I found, there is reference to the microphone. on front right corner is what is marked as the mike. I have been having trouble making it register/record. There are screw threads on this piece. Is there supposed to be a piece that screws on to that?

From what I gather (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)
these are called "old screw" connectors
making lathe cuts on a Presto 6N, HIFI stereo cuts on vinylrecorder
