Vinylrecorder signal chain question

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Vinylrecorder signal chain question

Hey everybody,

I have a question for VR owners, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having troubles getting a stereo signal for cutting or playback, everything is mono. I believe I have done something wrong when splitting the signal coming out of the mixer.

I have attached an image of my current signal chain after the mixer. Is this correct?

How can I get both the Main Unit input and the Mixer Line 1 to have stereo signals?

Thanks,

Andrew

From your drawing, it looks like you are feeding the L (black) mixer output to the line input of the mixer (for monitoring) and the other (R/red) output to the main unit. Imagine your drawing but with the splitters connected at the mixer output, that would give you two stereo pairs. Connect up so that one L/R pair goes to the mixer and the other pair goes to the main unit.
Does that make sense?

Thank for responding!

Collectively there are 4 male ends to the splitters ( 2 x Black + Red), but only two female output jacks on the mixer. Which of the 4 splitter jacks do I connect at the mixer output? Should it look something like this? (i'm pretty sure I'm way off here  ):

I am definitely overcomplicating this. If anybody has a chance to upload a picture of the back of their mixer, I would really appreciate it.

Cheers,

Andrew

I can't tell if your RCA is TO or FROM the main unit?

this is one of the reasons why I removed the mixer from my chain all together
making lathe cuts on a Presto 6N, HIFI stereo cuts on vinylrecorder
