Groove width/Pitch settings template
Hi all. I really hope this has not been discussed previously as I did a good search on here for it and could not find a thing.
I have the Vinyl Recorder and have created myself a "Groove speed" template (both 33 and 45 rpm)
This is to tell me roughly what groove speed I should dial in for specific track times.
It does not allow for different genre music (e.g.: bass heavy dance music or Dnb) as I performed the tests on blanks with no audio.
I am aware that the results would be dependant on the source volume and a lot of different variables that make up an audio track,
HOWEVER,
If anyone has a template, or a guide to help me out on what I should be dialing in then that would be great. I'm also happy to share mine with the rest of you VR users.
(ps: I am aware that quieter parts of the tracks can be slowed down too! )
Thanks Folks!

Re: Groove width/Groove speed settings template
Hey .. That's all depending on the current volume and the bass level! Depending bassy you record, the more wide you need and the deeper you have to cut. That takes a lot of space. the vari-Groove / and deep, it regulates automatically. here is a list for you ... greeting Scotty

Re: Groove width/Groove speed settings template
I have a very vague chart of my findings:
groove distance 30 = 168 LPI (around 14 min on 12" at 33 RPM)
groove distance 20 = 176 LPI
groove distance 10 = 232 LPI
I don't remember if I left room for a few track spacings, or the exact label dimensions, etc.
but I've been using this for years with success.

Re: Groove width/Pitch settings template
what are you getting over there David?
I think it should be noted the scale on the "groove distance" knob seems to be a sticker, and could have been applied much differently from unit to unit.
