Gridlock Demo of Plastic Plate cutting (not embossising)

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

Gridlock Demo of Plastic Plate cutting (not embossising)

Kevin (Gridlock on the forums) and his wife Kate brought over Kevin's Presto K8 to give Alan Graves and me a demo of cutting plastic plates. He found these plates at a local restaurant supply business called "Cash & Carry". Kevin said he had tried many kinds of plates and these black ones gave the best results. And at $20 for 300, they are a real find for experimenters.

Notice that Kevin is using the amp that is built into his record player to drive the Presto head directly. His K8 amp is blown. After our demo, Alan mentioned that Kevin should be able to leave the K8 electronics off, but connect the head to the K8 like usual. Then drive the head with alligator clips so the K8 level meter would still function. Like all good Presto experts, Alan brought his K8 schematic and sure enough - it could be done that way. And now Kevin has a working record level indicator again!

Thanks Kevin for the demo. We had a blast.

Thanks for putting this together bryan! Always a hoot listenin to Alan's stories. Really cool to see some top secret innovations in the works. Im also have a completely bonkers stereo cutting head plan for use on small desktop systems (far wackier than any proposed on this board) ps nail on the head with rube goldberg reference
