Problem with clicks and noise

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Problem with clicks and noise

Hello there,
Hope everyone is doing great.

I have a little anomaly going on with my T560....
When I cut unmodulated groove it's sounds very cool and surface noise is very acceptable.... but sometimes (not on every disc) there's like click and noises only during the really soft fade ins....but not on unmodulated groove...

When I increase stylus heating sometimes it helps ...sometimes it doesn't

Any ideas?

Cheers ;)
Ben

interesting, try to look closely at the chip pickup, and also the blank condition when cutting.
I've found those two factors to contribute very highly to the quality of the cut, with all other factors being the same.
making lathe cuts on a Presto 6N, HIFI stereo cuts on vinylrecorder
