PETG Blank Discs

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

So supposedly Souri blanks are PETG. Has anyone here ever just tried cutting records with regular old PETG and a diamond? I ask because I have a bunch of it from another project that I don't need.

He says that is PVC. Who can confirm that?

PVC is the "general" term of most plastic stuff (PET also).
Souri's blanks are not PETG/PET. These are someting more like polycarbonate stuff.
Black records have thin transparent layer on top of black PVC.
I've tried to cut PETG but got mediocre results in terms of stability & noise floor + they do not last long - a lot of small crackling (bg noise) after time.

Yeah I've cut with PETG.

It's probably the closest thing that I can find.

You can have PETG made like Souri Black Sandwhiches.

I have had great results with PETG.

Poly Carbonate however, sounds great, but wears out your stylus so fast.
