Alan Graves and the "Name that Lathe" game!

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Here is a photo of a "mystery lathe" that I got last year at an estate sale. Not the lathe, just the photo! It's an original glossy 8x10, from a photo studio in California. Alan thought it would be fun if we had you guys chime in, and we all play the "Name that Lathe" game!

There is a Name tag that I'm leaving intact so the scan will be of use to future trolls, but try your best not to zoom in on the name tag details. Look at the lathe on it's own please. Now, Name that Lathe!

I have a little bit of footage with Alan's inputs and I'll share that after the "Name that Lathe" game has several winners.

Sorry, you don't get any prize. It's just a game.

Without cheating, looks like the one Les Paul developed.

To be fair, the gentleman I learned to cut from had an Arcturus so I am quite familiar with them!
