wax is there any better?

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Yes, there is. ACL Staticide Heavy Duty is 'the shit'. I originally dismissed it in favour of my own home brew but all my ingredients ran out and a gallon of this stuff worked out cheaper than a re-up so I gave it a shot. I won't be using anything else! It's actually made to meet military specifications for killing static on non-conductive, non-porous surfaces (such as plastic) in dry environments.

Combined with a Reitschle VTE-8 vacuum pump, I'm about 500 sides in without a single bit of dropped swarf (chip). Evaporates quickly! No streaking! Also smells kind of nice, in a 'this must be bad for you' way...

Digi-Key stock it.

I also use Staticide and find it to be very effective - I use the 'normal strength' which is available on Amazon:

I haven't tried the 'heavy duty' version...

No build up on the diamond with Staticide??

I asked someone here a while ago about this and the answer was very positive for Staticide.

@ben I have never seen buildup on the diamond, it wipes off cleaner than souris secret sauce.
@fredbissnette I have no experience embossing - just cutting with a diamond - so I don't know if staticide will work with embossing.
For cutting I spread it on the spinning blank really thin with a microfiber cloth then I wait for it to evaporate off the surface - takes 10 seconds - then I start the cut.

yeah that wont work for embossing unless you have a very well balanced cutterhead

i was wiping my wax off but then i had squeaks so now i leave it on
the wax also softens the discs

cheers thanks
